what's thru your window?
February 7, 2007 21:19

thru the window
Amanda from following an unknown path had a neat idea.  She decided to show the world what she could see through her windows in Taiwan.  Today she posted part 4 of the series.

I would love to see what missionaries can see through their windows.  Not only is the scenery (of lack thereof) interesting, it's also interesting to see the windows themselves.  The kind of window you have may tell a story.  Do you have a window?  Is it insulated?  Old fashioned?  Covered in security bars?  And remember, there are windows at home, at the office, at church, at school, at other peoples' houses...

Anyway, here's the series so far.  If any other missionaries have tried the same thing, I hope they swing by and leave a comment.
  • thru my windows (Part 1)
  • thru my windows (Part 2)
  • thru my windows (Part 3)
  • thru my windows (Part 4)
  • will there be more?  Watch and see...

From Russia to England - short term
    February 14, 2007 16:17

    Hi everyone!

I happened to come upon another short termer to share with you.  This is an interesting one, because this man is on the same team as another short term blogger we featured back in October.  Do you remember THE REALM OF ALCAR?  Well, the team escaped from Siberia and somehow got into England (ok, I'm being over-dramatic, don't get too excited).  The next blog I want to point you to is Life in Combine Mode.

No posts on life in England yet, but you can read both these blogs for some interesting perspectives on short term ministry in Russia - and we look forward to hearing about life in the UK too!  These two blogs should make a great combine-ation (Sorry.  Actually, I love the title).

Don't forget to visit some long term missionaries in Russia and the United Kingdom as well...

Catch it early - preparing for the Philippines

    Philippines building

I know I just wrote about a short termer, but I just got an email from Courtney and thought some of you might like to keep an eye on her blog.  She's "between" short term trips right now, but getting ready to go to the Philippines this summer.

Preparing to go is, after all, a big part of the trip!  Visit Courtney's Blog..

Thanks so much to those of you who have emailed to say hi, give me an update or tell me about your blog.  Stay in touch!

Also doing some short term work (though they are in full time ministry) is the Riley family.  They're heading to the UK, then on to the Philippines in the summer.  Their blog is called CHARIS SHALOM.

How does the media see you?
    February 22, 2007 06:25

It's always interesting to notice how the media portrays Christians, or groups that they think of as "Christians".  I'm thinking of movies, radio talk shows, news reports, the internet - anywhere people are likely to see something and associate it with "Christian".  Then if you were to say you were a Christian, or that you go to "church", or read a "Bible" - they think back to whatever they saw or heard.

I would think we can generally rely on the world to get it very wrong, which is why it's up to the Holy Spirit in us and in them to break through with love.

Don't get me wrong - sometimes the media is right.  And sometimes they tell us things about ourselves that we'd rather not see!  Anyway, the media is the topic taken up by Paul in his post Evangelicals and French media.  Is it "progress", or just a "mixed bag"?  You can read his post and decide.  Paul is the long time blogger at Dr. Klaw & E.T..
