Days of the Dead November 10, 2006 08:35
The end of October and beginning of November are very important days in many parts of the world. In many parts of Latin America, and in the Philippines (leave a comment - where else are there similar celebrations?), the first few days of November are the Days of the Dead. Many people in other parts of the world don't realize how big these days are. So I'm going back through the blogs in search of posts on the topic, both new and old: From Guatemala, some comments and pictures - Day of the Dead and More Pictures of Day of the DeadFrom the Mexico perspective, Day(s) of the Dead - an introduction, a visit to Mexico City in All Saints Day, the spiritual battle, and more thoughts on the Day of the Dead.More pictures and comments from Ecuador - Day of the DeadAnd what about the Philippines? Remember, there's more to the Day of the Dead than just remembering loved ones. Here are a few more pictures. Finally, a visit to Brazil. A post from last year - Day of the Dead November 2. It's not like Mexico here in Brazil.

Say it with art! November 23, 2006 10:13
Many of our bloggers are both writers and visual artists. Some are particularly good writers, some good programmers, some graphic artists, or photographers. Today I've been enjoying the art of a blog started just over a year ago that I just recently learned about. Art Scapes of Thailand features the work of an American living in Thailand. The art gives fascinating glimpses into his life, and his impressions of Thailand and its people.
This is a blog by Kennedy (this is a correction - I credited this blog to the wrong person!). His wife, Wan Dee (her Thai name), is the writer - she gives snapshots in words in her blog, OceanicThai. Be sure to check them both out.
